Apple Music today released its 2024 rankings, celebrating the year's most popular songs based on data such as Apple Music streaming, Shazam tags, radio station plays, lyrics read times and other data. 2024 was a historic year in every way, with women accounting for a record share of the annual global song charts, global music categories reaching new heights, and many top spots going to artists entering the annual charts for the first time.
Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" topped the Top Songs of 2024: most successful song ever on Apple Music in 2024. Women's biggest year in global song chart history
In the Top Songs of 2024: Global chart, a total of 39 songs are sung or produced by artists who identify as women. This is the most outstanding year for female-identified artists in the seven-year history of the list. Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" ranks third and is Apple Music's top song of the year for global female-identified artists. The song is also one of two songs by female artists to enter the top five, the other being Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer", which ranked fifth.
