The more sites, the lower the costs
In addition to efficiency, a great added value lies in the cost model of a multisite architecture. With every website you add, the total cost of ownership (TCO) decreases. The largest investment in comparison is setting up the architecture and the first website. Every subsequent website is cheap because you use an existing CMS, modules, templating and hosting.

Structural costs for additional websites are limited. It depends on the supplier of course, but in general you only pay a fee per website for the maintenance of the entire system and possibly a surplus for the hosting if the traffic increases significantly.

Where in a traditional landscape of websites you are more inhibited in your innovation power as the size increases, in a multisite architecture it is the other way around. New features are automatically available for all existing (and future) websites.

Complex organization – simple management
Does your organization have multiple internal owners per website? Then it can be a challenge to ensure that all websites are secure, conform to corporate identity and comply with all legislation such as the GDPR, EN 301 549 (accessibility) or the Government Information Reuse Act (WHO). With a multisite architecture you streamline these essential processes. You arrange roles and rights all in one place.

I see that this usually creates a natural owner for the architecture in organizations. A single point of contact that keeps the environment up-to-date and compliant . This allows the various website owners to focus entirely on the goal of the website.
