Checklist to restore your email sender reputation

You probably already know that your reputation as an email sender is an asset you must defend . We’ve explained why in “Email Marketing and SPAM Reputation Are (Almost) Everything . ”

A poor sender reputation condemns your newsletters to the spam folder and even prevents them from being delivered.

In this post we want to talk about the solutions you can implement when the situation becomes problematic. You will know when this happens . You will see the increase in the number of cancellations, the increase in the return rates in the medium term and, over time, the decrease in the number of emails sent.

3 Step Verification
Please ensure that your lists only contain email addresses of owners who have given you explicit consent to receive messages . Emails sent without consent constitute “spam”;
Check that your lists do not contain email addresses that have been inactive for a long time . You can try to reestablish contact with these users or remove these addresses from your lists;
Make sure all addresses are spelled correctly .
Take Action
Do not send communications to users who do not expect them , or are not relevant to the email topic to which they have subscribed;
Highlight the unsubscribe link at the bottom . Add a second link that allows users to change their subscription preferences;
Use the footer to insert a phrase that reminds readers why they received the email . For example, “You received this email because you registered with…”;
Don't use a noreply sender . Make sure someone actually reads your readers' responses;
Avoid using a meaningless username , such as “info” or “sales”;

Don't wait until your email bounce rate or bounce rate doubles. Act now and you can get your reputation back on track .
