In order to reflect the essence of the site to users in the most detailed way, robots use a variety of sources: the original Title, meta tags, markup in the code, as well as other publicly available data. Based on this, the main requirement that the search engine makes for titles is their relevance.

The text enclosed in the <title> attribute should be informative and brief. Avoid meaningless wording. Use your imagination: don’t play Captain Obvious and call the main page of the site “The Main Page”. Don’t overdo it with keywords – this can be considered spam.

On the contrary, mentioning the brand is considered preferable. In order not to waste precious space and correctly place emphasis, it is recommended to place the site name at the beginning or end of the title line, while visually separating it from the rest with a hyphen, colon or vertical bar.
