Visualizing the data you get from tools like Google Search Console or Google Ads Keyword Planner will always make your job easier. In this article, I will try to give you information on how you can visualize the data you get from free tools as well as paid tools like Ahrefs using Tableau.
I use Tableau Public when doing my analysis , I recommend it to you as well. It will do your job very easily on the SEO side.
Google Search Console provides us with data in a table format; however, I can say that it is not very helpful in the visualization part. When you visualize the data in the table in your keyword analysis or other analysis, your decisions will be more accurate and you will be able to complete these analyses more quickly.
Downloading Search Console Data and Importing it into Tableau
Select the data in the date range you want, determine your metrics and download the data as Excel;
If you want to do this with a lot of data, you can also check out my article on downloading data using the Search Console API . Also, if you don’t want to include some of your brand terms in the data, just apply a small filter;
After downloading the data, open Tableau Public and transfer employment database the data to Tableau using the section I marked below;
We transferred our data to Tableu and all sheets are reflected in the program. My first job will be to make visualizations with “queries”.
We drag and drop the “Queries” sheet as follows;
Let's click on "Sheet 1" and complete the installation.
Visualization of Search Console Data
Country
It will be very useful to learn the status of the countries where you can access multilingual sites. You can use the information you will obtain here in all other digital marketing areas.
To easily create the world countries on the map, you need to click on the "Show me" section at the top right and select the relevant graphic.
I created a chart like the one below to see the countries according to their impression numbers.
If you notice in the graph above, I excluded data from Turkey. To do this, go to the “Filter” section and select the country you do not want to include in the graph;
You can target a specific region from Tableau and print the data for the countries in that region directly on the chart if you wish; the choice is entirely up to you. You can also change the name of the countries if you wish. For example, you can change it with the abbreviated name of that country or the name of your branch;
You can also get the world map in different map formats, for example in Dark mode; (of course I recommend adding a filter here)
Question
I created a very simple table to see my keywords more easily according to the number of clicks and impressions;
You can also filter according to the words that received the most impression and easily change the colors of the metrics.
Another advantage of using Tableau is that it can show you data interactively;
The data seems like a lot, right? Let's quickly bring this data to the consistency we want.
For example, let's filter out those whose minimum average position is greater than x.
