How Retargeting Ads Work

Post by bdjakaria76 »

Pixel Placement: The foundation of retargeting is a small piece of JavaScript code, often called a "retargeting pixel" or "tracking pixel," that you place on your website. This pixel is invisible to users.

Cookie Dropping: When a user visits your website, the pixel "drops" an anonymous cookie in their browser. This cookie doesn't store personal identifying information but acts as a unique identifier for that specific browser.

Audience List Creation: The pixel communicates with the whatsapp number list retargeting platform (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads), adding the user's cookie ID to a designated "retargeting list." You can create different lists based on user behavior (e.g., visited homepage, viewed a specific product, added to cart but didn't purchase).

Ad Delivery: As the user browses other websites, social media platforms, or apps within the retargeting network, the platform recognizes their cookie and serves them your retargeting ads. These ads are tailored to their previous interactions with your brand.
Re-engagement & Conversion: The goal is to remind users of their interest, overcome any initial hesitation, and encourage them to return to your site to complete a desired action (e.g., make a purchase, fill out a form, subscribe).
