What is https?
Https stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure .

To put it simply, https means that the data transferred between clients and servers is encrypted , so that no one can access it. This way, when you make an online purchase and give your card details, the information you send is encrypted so that even if a hacker can capture it, they cannot access it.

Differences between http and https
You've probably also heard of http domains , without the s , as the only thing that differentiates them is the final 's' , which stands for the word "security" and adds an additional layer of security to the protocol . This allows data to be transferred from the server to the browser in an encrypted manner, meaning that the information cannot be stolen.

Why is it important to have https?
Google Chrome , one of the most widely used browsers in Spain, announced that it would start marking as unsafe those pages that do not use the https protocol. This initiative put many websites in check, which have had to quickly secure their domains.
