Learn how hackers think to protect yourself from them

How can you protect yourself – and your company – from hackers and cybercriminals? In this month of cybersecurity, these are questions that continue to buzz. There is more and more legislation that regulates things for us. Think of the GDPR / AVG. But not everything keeps up with the rapid technological developments. The damage that can be caused to companies with 'ransomware' is also enormous. Good reason to remain vigilant and delve into what can be done about it.


'You catch crooks with crooks' they teach at the police academy. In other words, if you want to protect yourself against online crime, you have to delve into the hacker's mindset. These hackers come in all shapes and sizes. That makes it a bit more difficult. The two main categories are 'white hats' and 'black hats'. Then you understand that white hats mean the good guys. Of course, there is also a (literally) grey area here: the grey hats ... The first half of his book (Un)safe online; protect yourself against cybercrime and privacy violators' (affiliate) , seems – contrary to what the title suggests – more like a manual for novice hackers. After some history lessons about the origin and development of the hacker community, Dasselaar gives an extensive explanation of how hackers work and which tools and platforms are used.
