The origin of Toyokuni Shrine
First, let's introduce Toyokuni Shrine. The deity worshipped at Toyokuni Shrine is Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The area around Nakamura Park in Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City, is originally known as Toyotomi Hideyoshi's birthplace.

Toyokuni Shrine was founded in 1885 by the then prefectural governor (equivalent to the current prefectural governor), Kunisada Renpei, and other local people who lamented the ruins of the birthplace of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Even today, local people who venerate Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who started out as a farmer and rose to become the ruler of Japan, and worshippers from all over the country visit the shrine to receive blessings from the gods.
