To get a relevant and in-depth comparison, we conducted a comparative study taking into account 24,000 domains of different sizes and checked the scores of each domain with Moz and Ahrefs, in addition to the new data from Semrush.
Most of these domains scored similarly across dbtodata all three tools. However, there were cases where Ahrefs and Moz overestimated or underestimated a domain’s reputation .
We noticed that these cases occurred when our competitors' tools did not take organic traffic and/or spam factors into account to provide a correct estimate. As a result, they gave unfairly high ratings to suspicious profiles or unfairly low ratings to sites with high organic traffic.

We then developed a correspondence with the spam factors and found that Semrush's AS has a better correlation with common spam factors than Ahrefs' DR and Moz's DA.
This proves our hypothesis that Authority Score is the most resistant to authority manipulation among sites involved in link spam.
Check out the rest of the data in our full authority score comparison study.
Conclusion
Evaluating a domain's reputation with maximum accuracy has never been easy.
However, as we add more metrics to improve our calculation, we get closer and closer.
Considering our new score and other options on the market, we believe that Semrush Authority Score should be the first choice for SEOs who need reliable and clear data.
