Organization and time management in RIG during the pandemic: assessment and perspectives for the next year

Post by soniya55531 »

With the legislative recess approaching, and in an unprecedented context, we spoke with Beatriz Falcão, Communications and Institutional Relations Analyst at Abrint (Brazilian Association of Internet and Telecommunications Providers). She is also a collaborator of the project Dicas – Mulheres em RIG , in addition to being the creator of the podcast Patada de Pantufa , on air on all audio streaming platforms.

Beatriz has a degree in political science from the Federal District University (UDF), studied Philosophy at the University of Brasília (UnB) and has a postgraduate degree in Government Relations from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV). She says that she began her career in RIG as an intern at the Parliamentary Relations Department (GEREP) of Caixa Econômica Federal. She worked for traditional consultancies such as Umbelino Lobo and Queiroz and was Back Office Coordinator at the Dominium consultancy, where she faced a major organizational challenge.

The RIG area has some unique characteristics, which can make namibia mobile database planning activities quite complex and subject to unpredictable drastic changes . “Relgov happens in an absolutely organic way and things happen in a surreal way,” he says.

Organization and prioritization of demands
Passionate about organization, Beatriz says that she has had to adopt strategies throughout her career to deal with these situations of unforeseen changes in the planned scenario. “I like to sit down on Sunday and organize the week. I do it as if it were a religious ritual.” In the RIG area, it is necessary to know how to be flexible or, sometimes, redo the entire planning from scratch throughout the week.

One of the main functions of the RIG professional is to contextualize events in the political and regulatory scenario for the client. Whether internal or external, there may be a tendency to exaggerate the prospects of political or regulatory impact and prioritize all issues and demands. “Our work [of the RIG professional] is almost like that of a psychologist.” In addition to organizing one’s own routine, it is necessary to balance expectations and know how to prioritize what is truly urgent.

In the case of consulting work, there are still other obstacles in organizing the routine and managing the teams' time. In these situations, it is necessary to meet the demands of more than one client at the same time and the team is not available to each of them, simultaneously, during all working hours. It is necessary to divide the time for action with the production of technical material and fixed routines. For this reason, Beatriz emphasizes the importance of knowing how to prioritize demands by degree of urgency , not just importance. "I had to learn to say no," she comments.
